If technology and music are your life, brace yourself- Moldover is about to reformat your soul. Hailed by 700,000 YouTube viewers as "The Godfather of Controllerism", Moldover is a new breed of music icon. Combining the charisma of a rock star, the mad genius of a basement inventor, and the radical inclusiveness of the DIY internet generation, Moldover is "literally throwing away the rule book and ...reinventing the wheel" (Remix Magazine). Witness his balls-to-the-wall live show at a club, experience his multiplayer music installations at a festival, or pick up and play the "light theramin" packaging of his debut album and understand why the next paradigm for music is a one-man-brand called Moldover.
Vinyl Blight aims to breathe life into the
Ragga-Jungle sound he grew up on by splicing it with newer
techniques and noises. He's had the fortune to work with, remix and
be remixed by some fantastic artists, including: Bongo Chilli;
Mochipet; Kush Arora; MC Zulu; Liquid Stranger; and Jantsen. Vinyl
Blight has been a DJ for over 10 years, primarily in the Ragga and
DnB arena, but the past few years have seen the inclusion of
Dancehall, IDM, Glitch Hop, Breakcore, and Dubstep. Vinyl Blight has
been producing events for 5 years with local crews and tech-art
communities in all types of venues, from homes to clubs to
warehouses to deep in the woods. Some of the events he's
coordinated/co-organized have featured: Hobotech; Lorn; TechDiff;
Ill Gates; Splatinum; Shpongle; Liquid Stranger; DFRNT; NastyNasty;
Mochipet; Somatic Responses; Sickboy; Droon; Mark N; Kid Kameleon;
DJ C; and Dev/Null.
Currently, he's assisting Zebbler and
Mistaker with the "No Tomorrow" monthly at Machine, Dabu with the
roving local producer showcase "Links", and occasionally Encanti as
well, with the "Post Prosperity" monthly at the Tavern at the End of
the World. This year he also curated the electronic music stages at
the first Figment Boston. Vinyl Blight is responsible for the
administration of Vermin Street.
The Serial Krusher was created as a
two-headed audio/visual entity in late 2005 in Portland, OR, by Ian
Lippincott and Rik Maihos (RIP). It started while experimenting with
circuit-bent Nintendo games for use both in the music and live
visuals, then moved into mashing up obscure horror and sci-fi movie
samples. The sonic styles borrow from elements of 8-bit, drum n
bass, idm, dubstep, and breakcore. Rik moved away before things
really took off and since that time Ian has VJed for artists such
as: Bit Shifter, Nullsleep, Machine Drum, Daedelus, the Flashbulb,
Doormouse, Otto von Schirach, and Venetian Snares.
Sadly, Rik
passed away in October of 2008 at 28 years old. Ian currently lives
in Boston, works as a freelance graphic designer and just
self-released his debut EP "A Show of Hands".
Art show and sale by ......
Serial Krusher himself. We may have to start
calling him Prime Time now.
