"Three" is a powerful number. Mythology, religion, mysticism,
numerology - all atribute special meaning to this particular digit
and we'd like to explore this further.
Each month the three Music Ecology members will chose a topic to
share three of their thoughts or observations on. We'd love to
hear what you have to say on it too.
"The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long
plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die
like dogs. There's also a negative side."
-Hunter S. Thompson
This month we'd like to talk about the reasons that make the three
of us want to work in the music industry - the industry where the
odds are almost never in your favor, where dreams crash and burn,
and aspirations turn into obsessions.
-
For the love of music: as a drummer in multiple
bands- I get to be in touch with many different
kinds of musicians and work within all genres of
music such as: jazz/
rock/jam/edm/blues/fusion/funk/trap/hip hop/ house
etc,. As a DJ
(The MadMauritian)
I get to hear and expand my music experiences to
create something new, as well as meet producers
across the world.
-
To build or join a strong network / community for
musicians: reaching out to DJs, producers, musicians
to learn and share experiences to allow for
sustainable success. Thus connecting to vital
productions groups, clubs, and other live music
businesses to put on bigger shows.
-
Spread my music: I'm totally dedicated to reach a
world wide audience which will allow for a
successful career

Music has been my life since I can remember
-
It gives me opportunities to connect with and visit
places I've never been before.
-
It allows me to support other peoples art on a deeper
level

I want to make a difference in a male-dominated
industry. I think it's safe to say that women have
proved to be an asset in every single field previously
denied to them. In the music industry women have always
been present but up until recently only in the "talent"
capacity and never in executive positions. I like being
one of the persons changing this.
-
I am good at it. It's an amazing feeling to be proud of
your accomplishments. Working in the music industry
allows me to experience it. Yes, sometimes it's
soul-crushing when my efforts don't pay off but when
they do, I feel like I have super powers
-
For the groupies. When I grow up, I want to be just
like my hero Mallory Archer
- sassy, drunk and hitting on younger men. I think a position in the music industry will be a
perfect setting for this behavior.

Seeing how the vast majority of people reading this are aspiring to
work in the music industry as well, tell us your reasons as well! We
wanna know!!!
